Getting Here

It’s easy. Good roads take you from Inverness (The main city in the north of Scotland) to Lochinver via the two main routes (The A835 via Ullapool or the A836 and then A837 via Bonar Bridge). It takes about 1 ¾ hours by road either way and brings you through some of Scotland’s most stunning landscapes that are not to be missed. Inverness itself is easily accessed by road, rail and air. Coming by car from Inverness?

Route A - Via Ullapool on the A835

Head north over the Kessock Bridge at Inverness on the main A9 (dual carriageway at this point) and continue to the roundabout at Tore. Take the exit for the A835 at this roundabout and continue to the next roundabout at Maryburgh. Take the 2nd exit at this roundabout continuing onto the A835. Remain on this road for approx. 1 ¼ hours passing through Ullapool until you come to a T Junction (Ledmore Junction). Turn left at Ledmore Junction onto the A837 and follow signs to Lochinver which you will arrive at after approx. a further 20 miles.

Route B – Via Bonar Bridge on the A836 and A837

This is fractionally shorter than coming via Ullapool but includes long stretches of poor quality single-track road.

Exit the A 9 two miles north of Evanton at the Skiach Junction and follow the B 9176 to Easter Fearn. Here join the A 836 and continue on same to a point about 5 miles west of Bonar Bridge at Invershin where you take the A 837 road to Lochinver.
